Jimmy Kimmel celebrates a civilization not ending: 'It was the taco Tuesday of all taco Tuesdays'

Donald Trump's tough talk really seems to be getting on Jimmy Kimmel's nerves.

The late-night host roasted the president for his tough talk on Iran on Tuesday's episode ofJimmy Kimmel Live."

"Probably the most dangerous episode ofThe Celebrity Presidentyet today: It was D-Day. In this case, the 'd' stands for 'dementia,' but it was D-Day today. We're coming to you from Los Angeles where the local time's just after 5 p.m., which was Trump's deadline for Iran to quote, 'Open the effing straight or you'll be living in hell.' He gave a hard cut off time of now — of right now. And then this morning he wrote, 'A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.'"

The audience jeered at the prospect.

"I agree. I'm against civilizations being annihilated as well. Thank you for taking a stand," Kimmel replied.

"Realize this is the same man that was just he was bitching about losing the Nobel Peace Prize. Now he's threatening a civilization with death. He went from Mahatma Gandhi to General Zod like that," he continued. "And so all day today, everyone — most notably the people of Iran — were wondering if their civilization was going to die tonight. Well, good news: It didn't. It was the taco Tuesday of all taco Tuesdays, as our president decided not to drop the chalupa for at least another two weeks."

"He announced that at the request of Pakistan, which has been facilitating negotiations, he was giving Iran two weeks to live. This is how it goes every single time: Trump says something insane — he says, 'I'm going to kill everybody tomorrow at 5 p.m.' — we all freak out, and then he backs [down]. He's like, 'You know what? Actually, I'll kill everyone in two weeks.' And then we relax, and then he forgets he ever said it in the first place. He has the memory and the skin color of a goldfish," he said.

The worst part may be, Kimmel said — "we know he's bananas" — is "how relaxed the Congressional Republicans are about it. Now, he threatens to annihilate a civilization, [and] they're like, 'Well, you know how he is: He's a big talker.'"

Kimmel made note of how often the president defers a decision or action for "two weeks," playing a highlight reel of Trump giving his "two weeks notice."

But unlike the "conscientious employee" Kimmel compared Trump to, he thinks some observers want to see the formerApprenticehost fired. (The irony.)

"Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, Candace Owens, and his former communications director Anthony Scaramucci, they're calling on the cabinet to implement the 25th Amendment," Kimmel said. "You know things are bad when the crazy people think you're too crazy to be president. I mean, what a plot twist."

Also, he said, "If the president thinks that any of this is going to distract us from the fact that his name appears hundreds of thousands of times in the Trump-Epstein files, he's got another thing coming."

Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary Gets Second Shoutout From Artemis II Crew

The cosmos has always had a way of inspiring, and now, it’s influencing the silver screen. So much so that the NASA Artemis II crew has publicly praisedRyan Gosling‘sProject Hail Maryfor the second time. Their thrilling endorsement is the latest boost for Gosling’s recent cinematic venture that has been creating a huge stir worldwide.

Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary receives another nod from Artemis II crew

The Artemis II crew is giving Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary movie a double thumbs-up from space. However, this isn’t the first time the NASA crew has praised Gosling’s sci-fi thriller, hinting at a stellar performance from the actor.

After watching the film before their lunar journey, Mission Control playfully referenced it byquoting“Amaze! Amaze! Amaze!” – in response to Commander Reid Wiseman’s description of the Moon.

The notable event occurred during NASA’s official broadcast of the Artemis II space voyage. It coincided with the lunar flyby that took the crew farther from Earth than any human had previously been. Their achievement of a planned distance of 252,760 miles will enable them to surpass the Apollo 13 mission’s 1970 record of 248,655 miles.

“We just realized we have Earth at window four and the Moon at window three, and it gives you the best idea of scale we have had yet,” Wiseman said. “The Moon is about three to four times the size of the Earth, and it is almost full, and the Earth is just a small crescent out there. It’s magnificent – I got a picture of it with the wide lens. Such a majestic view out here.”

Responding to the record-breaking achievement, Mission Control said, “Amaze! Amaze! Amaze! Thank you, Reid.”

Fans of Andy Weir’s Project Hail Mary, or the movie adaptation starringRyan Gosling, will recognize the quote. It’s a nod to Rocky, the lovable Eridian alien who helps Gosling’s Ryland Grace on a mission to save humanity. Rocky’s unique way of expressing excitement is now echoed by Mission Control.

Curry missed a long, straightaway 3-pointer in the final seconds.

Gary Payton II scored the go-ahead basket on a goaltend by Amen Thompson with 20 seconds left, but Durant took charge on the other end. He finished with 31 points, eight rebounds and eight assists against his former team, making a crucial 3-pointer with 2:10 remaining.

But he missed with 38 seconds left, and Draymond Green found a cutting Payton in the key.

Curry dazzled down the stretch to score 29 points on 11-for-21 shooting in 26 minutes after missing 27 straight games because of a right knee injury — his first action since Jan. 30 against Detroit.

Curry's driving layup made it a one-point game with 1:27 left then Sengun converted a three-point play moments later only for Curry to hit a 3 on the other end.

Curry entered to a warm standing ovationand greetings on the big screen — he also expressed his gratitude on video — when he entered with 4:54 left in the opening quarter. It marked the first time he has come off the bench in a regular-season game since March 7, 2012, against Memphis. He last was a reserve in Game 4 of the first round of the 2022 playoffs during the Warriors' last championship run.

Things briefly got heated midway through the second quarter when Green and Jabari Smith Jr. exchanged words and had to be separated. Smith wound up with 23 points and nine rebounds while Sengun added 24 points and Thompson 18 and seven assists.

Curry andyounger brother Sethplayed together for the first time when Stephen re-entered the game at the 6:19 mark of the second quarter, the first time two brothers have been together in Warriors franchise history, according to Elias.

Seth Curry appeared in six preseason games for Golden State in 2013 then played for the team's G League Santa Cruz Warriors that year — with the brothers playing all of 100 seconds together during the fourth quarter of two games during that '13 preseason.
