Dave Grohlshared the reaction he received after sharing his surprising pre-show ritual with his doctor.

During the Wednesday, April 22 episode oftheDishpodcast, theFoo Fightersfrontman opened up about a time "maybe eight years ago" when he got his vocal cords checked out by a doctor.

Grohl, 57, told hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett that at the time he had “never done” that.

“And I was like, ‘Oh, Jesus. It's going to look like string cheese,'” he teased. “And I thought, ‘Okay, this is it. They're gonna tell me that I've thrashed my vocal cords, and I'll never be able to sing again.'"

Grohl then revealed that after the doctor stuck a camera down his throat, "he goes, ‘Wow, they look great.' And I said, ‘You're kidding.'”

“He said, ‘No, they look amazing. Do you do vocal warmups?' I said, ‘No, I don't.' And he goes, ‘Okay, do you do like vocal cool downs after a show?' I said, ‘No,'" he recalled.

Then, Grohl revealed how he really prepped his voice before a concert.

"I said, ‘Honestly? An hour before the show, I'll open a beer, and I'll start drinking the beer. I might take an Advil because my knees hurt, my ankles hurt, whatever, I'm old. Um, then I have a shot of whiskey. And then once the beer is done, I'll open another beer," he said.

Added Grohl, "Then we'll maybe have a group shot of whiskey. Which we call ‘band prayer,' and then someone will say 15 minutes, and I open one more beer and have one more shot. And then hit the stage.'”

His doctor appeared to be impressed by his regimen.

“My doctor said, ‘Just don't change what you're doing. It's working!' And I was like, ‘Ok, great!' And that's it!" said Grohl.

Elsewhere in the podcast episode, Grohl spoke about the first thing he does for his kids when he gets home from tour.

“Well, the first thing I do when I come home from being on tour is I like to cook for the family,” he said. “I love to get straight into the kitchen, and whether it's making a roast over the weekend or it's a pasta, I usually bring the comfort, like I'm home and I bring the comfort to the kids."

Below Deck Down Under - Season 4

Welcome back,Below Deck Down Underfans!Last week, Daisy snapped. Alesia and Mike are doing the most, but also the least. Also, Ellie put her love interest over the needs of their guests, leaving Daisy “hanging on by a thread.” And sadly, this week, Daisy loses her mind even more on BDDU Season 4 Episode 12.

What happened in Below Deck Down Under Season 4 Episode 12?

This week, the charter guests spice things up with a daring offer to pad the crew’s tips. After they depart, these yachties finally get a much-needed day off. However, instead of relaxing, certain crew members start fighting, while other relationships shift across the yacht.

Daisy threatens “a consequence” to Mike

Daisy Kelliher

Daisy is completely overwhelmed. Meanwhile,Ben already owes Ellie“five bucks” for calling her everything but her actual name.

On the pier, Tyler suggests “one more little competition.” The first yachtie “to jump off this marina, butt-naked, gets a thousand dollars.” Mike wins.

But Tyler also left a parting gift for Captain Jason. It’s a silicone breastplate. Captain Jason slips it on and takes a selfie.

Then, he presents the crew with a $22,000 tip. Mike has to split his bonus cash, which, HA. Understandably, Ellie gets the disco ball helmet. But Captain Jason still has one more present left.

“The owner of Sandy Lane Marina has given you a villa to use this afternoon.” In the morning, they will take an excursion on a catamaran, he shares.

Daisy takes the floor. Without naming names, she calls out certain yachties. “It can’t happen again,” she scolds.

But as soon as Captain Jason exits, Mike makes another cheeky comment. “Do that again, Mikey, and I swear, there will be a consequence,” Daisy says. Mike gets defensive, so João helps, but Mike speaks to him like trash, too. In his cabin, Mike blames Alesia for triggering him.

Mike spills the beans

Mike on BDDU

Eddy asks Jenna out on a date, and she says yes. Likewise, Mike knows João really wants Daisy, so he plans on “making some moves with Ellie.” But look, there goes João, cozying up to Ellie in a golf cart en route to their villa.

Ellie immediately finds a room to perfect her glam in. Later, Mike stirs the pot, asking Ellie about her chat with João. “We’re just having fun for the season,” Ellie says, but when Eddy asks Mike what João said to him, Mike admits, “João said to me, he wasn’t into Ellie.”

Ellie’s floored. She finds João. Knowing Mike stirred the pot, João calls Mike over, but Mike further tells Ellie that João actually likes Daisy. Ellie leaves, and João gets mad at Mike, but really, they are both at fault here.

Out on the balcony, Mike and Alesia start fighting. Daisy comes down on Mike. But when Mike leaves, Alesia tells Daisy, “You need, as the f*cking head of the department …”

But Alesia can’t even finish, because Daisy is already on her feet, arguing, “I f*cking need? I’m done with this.” In her talking head, Daisy states that if they can’t “rein it in, heads are gonna roll.”

João placates Ellie

BDDU

Back on the yacht, Jenna asks Alesia where her Pride plushie went. When she goes into the bathroom, Alesia pulls it out and licks it. I –

Next door, Ellie remains sad. Daisy sits on her bunk, asking, “What’s wrong?” Crying, Ellie admits that she feels stupid. “Boys are stupid,” Daisy corrects.

In the morning, Daisy fills Captain Jason in on the Mike and Alesia mess. If they can’t grow up, he is ready tolet them both go, he beautifully states. Then, the catamaran pulls up and whisks everyone, minus Captain Jason, away. But right after, Captain Jason drives past them on an eFoil, yelling “Happy Birthday” to a laughing João.

Mike asks Ellie if he can flirt with her, and she says, “Sure.” But João spots them laughing and grows weary, thinking they’re talking about him. At the beach, Eddy and Jenna flirt as Ben looks on. After, Ben sits by Jenna, letting her know she can always join him in the master cabin for some “cheeky laughs.”

João approaches Ellie. She cries. “For the time being, I’m going to tell Ellie what she wants to hear,” João admits in his confessional, as Mike understandably dogs João in his.

One romance ends as another shadily begins

BDDU

Jenna and Eddy go on their date. Comically, Captain Jason and Daisy look on with a pair of binoculars. Then, we see Betul in the crew mess, listening to an audio reader accurately narrating, “I can’t stay on this boat of lies.”

Speaking of, Ellie still thinksshe and Joãoare on the same page. So, she puts the finishing touches on his cake. Similarly, in her talking head, Jenna admits that Ben is more her speed. “I kept it PG, she tells Ben after her date with Eddy.

Ellie texts João, telling him his birthday surprise is ready. He texts back, saying he wants to chat. Jenna and Ben eavesdrop on their conversation, where finally, João tells Ellie that he only wants to be “friends.”

“We’re coworkers. That’s it. I don’t want the friendship,” “chitchats,” or “hugs,” Ellie says. “I respect that,” João answers, but when she leaves, he cries.

Then, in the wee hours of the morning, Jenna heads to the master cabin, where the sounds of her and Ben kissing are heard. The words TO BE CONTINUED fill the screen.

Ace Zack Wheeler set to return to struggling Phillies rotation on Saturday at Atlanta

CHICAGO (AP) — Philadelphia ace right-hander Zack Wheeler, out since last August because of a blood clot found near his right shoulder and thoracic outlet surgery, will return to the struggling Phillies rotation on Saturday in Atlanta, manager Rob Thomson said Tuesday.

Associated Press

A three-time All-Star, the 35-year-old Wheeler last pitched on Aug. 15, 2025, at Washington, exiting after five innings.

Wheeler finished his sixth season with the Phillies at 10-5 with a 2.71 ERA through 149 2/3 innings and 24 starts. He's 113-75 with a 3.28 ERA for his career over 11 seasons with Philadelphia and the New York Mets.

Wheeler completed a five-game minor league rehab stint on Sunday when he threw 77 pitches for Double-A Reading. The righty also pitched for Triple-A Lehigh Valley during the assignment.

Thomson didn't think Wheeler, who rejoined the Phillies in Chicago, would face significant restrictions against the Braves.

“I see him as kind of a six (inning), 90 (pitch) guy,” Thomson said before the Phillies faced the Cubs. “I think he's basically at the end of spring training.”

Wheeler's return could provide a much-needed boost to the Phillies, who entered Tuesday on a six-game slide that dropped them to 8-14.

“I think having Zack Wheeler on your 26-man roster makes you a better roster no matter what,” Thomson said. “So when he's healthy and pitching, well he's one of, if not the best pitcher in the National League.”

But what I admired the most about my brother is his devotion and love for God and family! Those were his priorities… Always!”

Victor Wembanyama named NBA Defensive Player of the Year as first-ever unanimous winner

Victor Wembanyama was a virtual lock to win Defensive Player of the Year in 2024-25 beforea blood clot cut his season shortat 46 games.

Yahoo Sports

There were no shortcomings this season. The NBA announced on Monday that Wembanyama won the 2025-26 Defensive Player of the Year award, the first of his three-year NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs.

He was the first unanimous winner of the award in NBA history, receiving all 100 first-place votes. At 22 years old, Wembanyama also is the youngest player to win the award. Wembanyama beat out fellow finalists Chet Holmgren and Ausar Thompson to secure the hardware.

The win marks Wembanyama’s second top-two finish in voting for DPOY. He finished second to Rudy Gobert during his 2023-24 Rookie of the Year campaign.

“I’m super proud to be the first ever unanimous [winner],” Wembanyama told NBC Sports after winning the award. … “My shot-blocking is something I’ve been working on forever. It’s probably the area of my game where I feel most comfortable at.”

Holmgren finished second in voting ahead of Thompson.

How many DPOYs will Wemby win?

If projections hold true, the DPOY award will be the first of many for the transcendent Spurs center, who has no equal as a defender in basketball. Thanks in part to his defensive prowess, Wembanyama isalso an MVP finalistalongside Nikola Jokić and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Wembanyama’s game is unprecedented on multiple fronts. At 7-foot-4 with handles, a face-up game and a 3-point shot in addition to post moves, Wembanyama is next to impossible to guard. But it’s arguably his defense that sets him apart above all else.

Opposing players with the ball have to account for Wembanyama and his 8-foot wingspan, whether attacking the rim, pulling up from the mid-range or even on the perimeter.

Victor Wembanyama's 3.1 blocks per game were 1.2 more than anybody else in the NBA.

Nobody’s close to Wemby in blocked shots

Wembanyama led the league in blocks per game (3.1) for the third time in his three NBA seasons. He altered countless others as the league’s premier rim protector. He averaged over a block per game more than the league’s second-place finisher, fellow DPOY finalist Holmgren (1.9 blocks per game).

Wembanyama’s blocks alone placed him asthe league leader in stocks(blocks + steals) per game, a combined metric frequently cited to measure a player’s defensive impact. But he added one steal per game to his tally as a defender who can impact the game in multiple ways.

Wemby’s defense = Spurs wins

Wembanyama’s defense translated to success for the Spurs. As a team, the Spurs ranked third in the league in defensive rating, largely due to Wembanyama’s impact. And the Spurs are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2019 as a championship contender.

Wembanyama won DPOY while anchoring a Spurs team that secured the NBA’s second-best record (62-20) and the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. He made his playoff debut on Sunday, leadinga 111-98 Spurs winover the Portland Trail Blazers.

Wemby sneaks in with 65 games

Wembanyama’s game tally almost cost him DPOY for a second straight season. But he just reached the 65-game minimum threshold required by the NBA to be eligible for postseason awards.

That’s a tally that includesSan Antonio’s loss to the New York Knicks in the NBA Cupfinal that doesn’t count in the standings but does count toward the 65-game minimum.

Several awards and All-NBA contenders, including Jokić, Luka Dončić, Cade Cunningham and Anthony Edwards, either flirted with or fell short of the 65-game minimum, raising debate about whether the standard is fair. In the end, Wembanyama didn’t have to worry about it after reaching the threshold in San Antonio’s penultimate game of the regular season.

Mike Vrabel will not be subject to NFL's personal conduct policy after photos with Dianna Russini, league says

The NFL is not reviewing the conduct of New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel in the wake of photos taken of him with journalist Dianna Russini, league spokesman Brian McCarthytold ESPN's Ben Strauss.

Yahoo Sports

Vrabel has been subject to scrutiny after photos went public of the Patriots coach and Russini, formerly an NFL insider with The Athletic, holding hands at a luxury hotel in Arizona. But McCarthy said that the league would not be reviewing whether Vrabel violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy, which states that players, coaches and executives must not engage in “conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in” the NFL.

Russiniresigned from The Athletic on Tuesday, a few months before her contract was set to expire. In her letter of resignation, which she posted in full on social media, Russini said that she was stepping aside “not because I accept the narrative that has been constructed around this episode, but because I refuse to lend it further oxygen or to let it define me or my career.”

Vrabel and the Patriots have largely declined to comment on the interaction. However, Vrabel will be attending the NFL Draft next week and will likely be asked about the issue.

The photos were originally published in theNew York Poston April 7. Per Strauss, both Russini and Vrabel were offered the chance to change the tone of the story, or keep it from running altogether, if they could provide evidence of statements that they had both been on trips with friends.

Initially, The Athletic backed Russini’s account, but when the outlet asked Russini for more evidence of her trip with friends, she was reportedly unable to provide that evidence. The Athletic opened an internal investigation into her coverage and her alleged relationship with Vrabel as a result. That investigation is ongoing, per Strauss, even after Russini’s resignation.

Cavaliers' Mitchell extends NBA-record streak of 30-point games to 9 in series openers

CLEVELAND (AP) — Donovan Mitchell has more support on the Cleveland Cavaliers roster going into this year's postseason run.

Raptors Cavaliers Basketball

But even with the deeper roster, Mitchell still has the mentality of delivering the statement in the first game of a series.

The All-Star guard did that again Saturday afternoon with a game-high 32 points in theCavaliers' 126-113 victoryover the Toronto Raptors in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first-round series.

It is an NBA-record nine straight games in which Mitchell has scored at least 30 points in a series opener.

“It’s not something like I’m searching for,” said Mitchell of trying to put up at least 30 to start a series. “It’s just something that I’m playing my game. Just trying to set a tone of aggression by getting downhill, taking the open shots, taking what’s given to me and obviously making the defense have to react.”

Mitchell’s streak began with the Utah Jazz during the 2020 playoffs — held at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, during the COVID-19 pandemic — when he scored 57 points against the Denver Nuggets. That remains a Jazz playoff record and the third-highest-scoring performance in NBA postseason history.

Mitchell is 5-4 during this run in series openers, including 3-3 with Cleveland since coming over in a trade from Utah in September 2022.

James Harden, who was acquired from the LA Clippers in a trade-deadline shocker, helped settle the Cavaliers during a close first half, but it was Mitchell and Max Strus who helped deliver the knockout blows to the Raptors in the second half.

Mitchell had 13 points in the first half to Harden's 15 as the Cavaliers were up 61-54 at halftime. Mitchell scored 11 and Strus added eight as Cleveland dominated the third quarter and were up by 21 going into the final 12 minutes.

“That’s his job. That’s what he gets paid the big bucks for being aggressive, taking shots and doing his thing. We understand that, so our job is to just go out there and fulfill the roles and do other things to impact the game,” Harden said. “I think for me, it's trying to get more assists and trying to get into the paint. We've got shooting, we've got bigs who are versatile and athletic. My job is to get them the ball.”

Harden finished with 22 points and 10 assists that led to 23 points. Six of the assists went to center Jarrett Allen and forward Evan Mobley.

Mitchell's 30th point came on a driving layup with 9:28 remaining to extend Cleveland's lead to 106-84. The nine-year veteran shot 7 of 13 from inside the paint, which is something that pleased coach Kenny Atkinson.

“I said that before the game, how we’ve changed our mindset where we’ve become more rim- and paint-oriented. Don, he can try to do those pirouette 3s, but I think he was locked in on getting to the rim and made some really good decisions," Atkinson said.

Mitchell is averaging 33.1 points in series openers, second-highest in NBA history for a player who has taken part in at least 10 postseason series. His playoff average of 28.4 points is tied with LeBron James for sixth-best among players with at least 50 games.

“I thought we handled the environment and the crowd pretty well. They had a lot of guys scoring at a high rate and they got a lot of easy shots, getting to the rim and dunks," said Toronto's Scottie Barnes, who scored 21 points.
